An 8’s Puzzle
Using eight eights and using addition only, can you make a sum equal to 1000?
The Four Studios Puzzle
Four friends, Alex, Beth, Carl, and Dana, each rent a different art studio in a row of four units: Studios 1, 2, 3, and 4 (from left to right). Each person works in a different medium (Oil, Watercolour, Sculpture, and Digital) and prefers a different music genre (Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Ambient) while working. Determine which of the friends are in which studio, and what their medium and music preferences are using the following eight clues.
- Beth’s studio is not at either end of the row.
- The Sculpture studio is immediately to the right of the Digital
- The person who listens to Rock works two studios away from Alex’s (i.e., there is exactly one studio between them).
- Studio 3 is used for Watercolour and does not play Jazz.
- Carl works in a studio next to and left of Dana’s studio, but neither of them is in Studio 1.
- The Classical music studio is to the right of the Jazz studio
- The Oil painter listens to Ambient
- Dana does not work in Digital.
